Routine check-ups are the key to maintaining good oral health and we advise all our clients to attend examinations every 6 to 12 months according to NICE guidelines. During the check-up we will examine the mouth thoroughly and check for early warning signs and symptoms of problems. If further treatment is required the dentist will advise you to make an appointment in the near future.
Frequently asked questions
Do the treatments hurt?
Treatments are generally not too painful. Pain is managed through local anaesthetic and numbing injections may be used. Any slight pain after treatment can normally be resolved using over-the-counter pain medication.
How long do treatments take?
This depends on the treatment, but most will take place in an hour or less. Your dentist will advise you on exact times for each procedure.
Advantages of General Dentistry
By having regular dental check-ups many oral problems can be caught before they become a problem. For example, your dentist can check for signs and symptoms of gum disease or tooth decay, as well as advising you on the best way to look after your teeth.
General dentistry treatments should form part of a healthy lifestyle. It is recommended that patients visit the dentist at least twice a year for general check-ups and more if a problem has been identified at previous appointments.
